Ethernet Port Extenders Make Virtually Every Device Ethernet-Ready and Network Accessible

Orlando, Fla - June 15, 2011 - AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today introduced the ICSLan™ Device Control Boxes. These interfaces control almost any device including AV, HVAC, lighting and shades and other devices using IR, RS-232, I/O or relays. The units also feature embedded Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality to simplify installation and function as port expanders for a master controller requiring only a single Category Cable connection for control and power. AMX will be demonstrating the installation-simplifying ICSLan Device Control Boxes in booth 2525 at InfoComm 2011, being held June 15 - 17 in Orlando, Fla.

ICSLan Device Control Boxes are ideal for conference rooms, classrooms or auditoriums where a single controller is used to manage multiple devices spread throughout a facility, or for adding additional ports to an AMX Central Controller.

"When there's no need for master-to-master redundancy, ICSLan Device Control Boxes are a simple, cost-effective method to extend control," explained AMX Chief Technology Officer Robert Noble. "They provide for a future proof solution as they enable ports over Ethernet, and allow an installer to add ports practically anywhere."

As Ethernet has become the industry standard for connecting devices, the ICSLan Device Control Boxes make it easy to introduce control to equipment such as projectors located extended distances from a master controller. Additionally, the number of ports on an AMX Controller can be expanded when all ports are fully populated. Because they employ Native NetLinx® technology, it is extremely simple to add an ICSLan port extension to an AMX installation.

Programming is easy; no special codes or commands are needed. Through its PoE capability the need for a power source at the install location is eliminated. And, its small, compact design makes it easy to hide for a clean installation.
