Crestron Integrated by Design™ Technologies to Handle HD Video Distribution for All Areas of Sony’s Exhibit
Las Vegas, NV, June 13, 2012 – Crestron technology will go beyond its 9,000-square-foot booth at InfoComm® International to outfit the Sony® Electronics booth with Crestron Integrated by Design™ technology solutions. Sony will demonstrate CaptureLiveHD™, Crestron's new simple, affordable high-definition lecture capture and live streaming solution, in education and corporate vignettes at their booth. The solution couples Crestron control with Sony PTZ and compact video cameras to provide faculty and presenters with a simple-to-use one-button solution for scheduling, recording, online publishing, and for viewing lectures, presentations and medical procedures. Crestron's complete end-to-end digital network solution, DigitalMedia™ will handle HD video distribution and source switching of content to 30 displays throughout the Sony booth.
“When industry leaders like Sony and Crestron collaborate on high-quality application specific solutions, it results in new, vibrant growth for our innovative products and creates powerful integration solutions,” said Ken LaMarca, vice president of the visual imaging products division at Sony Electronics.
The Sony booth features an interactive environment with corporate and education solutions in action that convey its theme "Collaborate. Present. Communicate." A Crestron Integrated Partner, Sony utilized many of Crestron’s Integrated by Design technology solutions, including Crestron control, CaptureLiveHD, DigitalMedia, and Crestron Mobile Pro®. Sony will also have Crestron Connected™ projectors on hand to display show content.
Sony will demonstrate the use of its PTZ cameras with Crestron Capture HD™ High-Definition Capture Recorder in the PTZ remote video camera area. The game-changing, CaptureLiveHD solution is smartly designed as a complete yet practical meeting and lecture capture solution that's easy for the entire faculty to use, and is designed to offer a lower cost of ownership since there are no annual service fees. The budget-friendly solution permits wide-scale deployment across any sized campus or corporate environment. Students and staff can now view live streaming or recorded presentations and lecture series in true high-definition from wherever and whenever they choose, including from popular mobile devices or a laptop.
The new Sony EVI-H100S PTZ HD camera offers full native HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and is equipped with 20x optical zoom capabilities. In addition, the EVI-H100S can be desktop- or ceiling-mounted depending on your specific application requirement. In classroom environments, PTZ cameras allow professors to reach students around the globe while walking from the lectern to the blackboard and interacting with students within the classroom. When connected to the Capture HD recorder, the EVI-H100S is the perfect camera for capturing various angles and views of a presentation.
“We have a great relationship with Sony,” notes Steve Samson, Crestron Director of Business Development. “We have worked together on several projects to develop the high quality solutions that our customers demand.”
A Crestron DigitalMedia DM32X32 matrix switcher will handle HD video distribution and source switching to all 30 flat panel displays and projectors in the booth, which includes complete centralized control, all via a single standard CAT5E cable to each display. The DM® switch will allow the individual displays to showcase both local and centralized content, depending on the desired presentation. Twice an hour, the booth will feature a unified message across all displays.
Sony's XDS professional media station will also be used to provide a cutting-edge video editing station for a variety of venues. During Sony's demonstrations at InfoComm, Crestron will be controlling the workstation to demonstrate the flexibility of both systems to talk to each other.
Control will be possible from local Crestron touch screens and the Crestron Mobile Pro app, using Sony's Tablet S as a virtual Crestron touch screen for remote control of the booth's technology.
Crestron worked with Sony last year to showcase its InfoComm messaging using the Sony Ziris™ Canvas custom video wall system. This year Crestron will feature Sony PTZ cameras in its InfoComm booth. "This is a great opportunity to showcase the integration between two great brands. We look forward to bringing more winning products and solutions to the marketplace," adds Samson.
